This is a story about the life and dreams of the Kushti wrestlers in the Indian city Kolhapur. Kushti is a sport with an ancient history that dates back at the very least to the Parthian Empire (132 BC to 226 AD) that was situated where Iran and Iraq are located today.
Theo Erbenius was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. After his studies in philosophy, ethnology and art he worked for some years with control engineering until the love of photography and his curiosity of humanity took over. From that moment he began to travel extensively in Asia, the Middle east, Europe and South America working on his photographic projects. In 2011 he took a diploma degree in photojournalism at the Danish School of media and Journalism.
Theo is currently based in Stockholm mixing freelance assignments with personal projects. He has previously exhibited at Getty Images gallery in London, Fylkingen in Stockholm, Bryggeriet in Nora and has been published in magazines like DN, IZ Magazine, Empty Stretch and Piel de Photo.
